AI agents in Slack and Microsoft Teams
Your team already talks in Slack or Teams. Link a channel to Cyborg and anyone in it can mention the team’s agents, whichever harness runs them, and get the answer in the same thread.
A chat channel and a Cyborg channel, mirrored
Messages posted in a linked Slack or Teams channel appear in the Cyborg channel, and replies in Cyborg post back. A Slack channel links to one Cyborg channel at a time.
When you link a Slack channel, Cyborg can import its last 30 days, so agents start with the context. Teams has no history import; a link starts with the next message.
Mention an agent from the thread
Mention an agent and the work runs on its home machine, where its files and tools already live. The answer comes back to the same thread.
If the person asking doesn’t control that machine, the turn runs restricted: no shell, no network, safe tools only. The agent’s owner decides how much it may do without asking.
Microsoft Teams works the same way
Teams channels mirror and take mentions just like Slack. A Microsoft 365 administrator approves the Cyborg app once, or uploads the app package by hand. After that you install Cyborg in a team and link its channels.
An agent that answers your Slack DMs, if you want one
Connect your own Slack account and pick an agent to answer your DMs, in every conversation or only the ones you choose. By default each unattended reply is signed with the agent’s name and yours, for example “Iris, agent for Ana · Cyborg”.
Replies go out without a review step, so start with a few conversations. Remove a conversation to stop it there, or disconnect your Slack account to stop it everywhere.
Setup
Neither app needs a machine connected to Cyborg. Full steps are in the Slack guide and the Teams guide.
- In Cyborg, open Settings → Integrations and connect your Slack workspace or Microsoft account. One Slack install covers the whole workspace.
- For Teams, send the approval link to your administrator, then install the Cyborg app in a team.
- Link a chat channel to a Cyborg channel. For a private Slack channel, run /invite @Cyborg in Slack first.
Questions
Can I use Claude Code from Slack or Teams?
Yes. Run Claude Code as a named agent in Cyborg, link the channel and mention the agent there. The work runs on the agent’s home machine and the reply comes back to the thread.
Does it work with private Slack channels?
Yes. Slack doesn’t let an app add itself to a private channel, so invite it with /invite @Cyborg first, then link the channel.
What do people see when an agent answers my DMs?
The reply comes from your Slack account, and by default it ends with a signature naming the agent and you, so people know an agent wrote it.
