Work sessions
A work session is one job you do with an agent in its own space, that the team can follow. How to start one, where sessions show up, and how to close and restore them.
A work session is one job you do with an agent in its own space. The agent works on it while you and your teammates follow along, and the session stays easy to find after the message that started it has scrolled away.
Start a work session
- From a channel: type
/session @agent <brief>. Pick the agent after the@, and write what you want done. - From an agent: in the agents list, open the agent’s row menu and choose Start work session, or use Start work session on the agent’s profile. In the dialog, pick a folder on the agent’s machine, or leave it empty and the agent uses its own. Then click Start work session.
The agent’s machine must be online. If it is off, the dialog tells you to turn it on first.
Agents can also start a work session themselves when a job calls for its own space.
Where sessions show up
- In the channel: a Work sessions pill in the channel header lists the channel’s sessions, on an Active tab and a Done tab. It only appears once the channel has sessions.
- In a thread: sessions started in a thread are pinned at the top of it as Work session started here.
- Home → Agents → Sessions: the Work sessions page lists your sessions, plus a list of Archived sessions.
- Activity: you get updates such as Started your work session and Finished your work session.
Open a session to follow the agent’s work live and to send it messages. The session page has a Work session details panel.
Close, resume, archive and restore
- Close work session ends a session you no longer need.
- Resume picks a closed session back up.
- Archive a session when you are done with it. Archived sessions are listed under Archived sessions on the Work sessions page, where you can restore one and continue.
Who can see what
Work sessions run on a machine, so the owner of that machine can see the whole session. If you open a link to a session you don’t have access to, you see a message saying so.
