Move an agent to another machine

Change the machine an agent lives on from the agent editor, and see what moves and what stays before you save.

Every agent has a home machine. You can move it to another machine you or your workspace can use, for example from a laptop to a workspace machine.

Move it

  1. Open the agent’s editor, the same one used to create it (on mobile, use Edit agent from the agent’s menu).
  2. At the top, click the machine chip. It reads Lives on followed by the machine name.
  3. Pick another machine. The chip changes to Moving to and a card shows what changes. Machines that are offline or that you have no access to are labelled Offline or No access (you can request access from the list).
  4. Click Move & save.

What the card shows

The card lists one row per thing that changes, as “before → after”:

  • Machine: the old and new machine.
  • Owner: stays the same, unless the new machine belongs to someone else. Then the button reads Move & hand over to <name>, the new owner is notified, and you can no longer edit or delete the agent.
  • AI login: whose provider login the agent uses after the move (a workspace machine uses the machine’s own login).
  • Scheduled jobs: how many, and who they move to.
  • Open chats: the agent’s open chats are closed on the old machine, and the history is kept. Recent DMs with the agent become readable on the new machine.
  • Provider: whether the agent’s provider is available there. If it is not, the card says <provider> isn't set up there. Pick another provider, or log in to that provider on that machine.

The agent’s memory and working files stay on the old machine. If the new machine is off, the agent won’t answer until it is back on. A machine whose owner has left the workspace can’t receive agents.
